When I first heard Maria Callas sing this famous aria from Tosca, I wept!
Her voice is so naked, and wild and vulnerable and brave and passionate.
I felt my heart break wide open, pouring out all my tears and fears from years of repression of my real feelings.
I had never listened much to Opera until I learnt singing from Kim Kirkman, who was one of the Ten Tenors. He introduced me to a whole new world expressing deep, powerful feelings in song.
At times this was very challenging, like when I sang the part of Dido in a local production of Dido and Aeneas. Dido was filled with rage, and grief. I had buried such unbearable feelings deep in my heart.
It wasn't easy to delve deep into these fierce, primal feelings. But the release of a powerful, passionate voice was the joyful gift of this Heroine's Journey.
How did I do this? With Feldenkrais movements and sound.
I would love to share with you my journey and show you how you can discover how to Express the Real You. You may not want to sing Opera, but you will discover the power in your voice to speak or sing your heart out.
